Authorities in Charlotte, North Carolina, are investigating a fatal incident that occurred Thursday morning in the city’s northwest region, marking the 44th homicide reported in Charlotte in 2026.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, officers were dispatched shortly after 9:30 a.m. on June 18 to the 6800 block of Ciera Nichole Court in the Coulwood East neighborhood, located north of Rozzelles Ferry Road. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and discovered a female victim who had suffered fatal injuries.

Police confirmed that the case is being investigated as a domestic violence-related homicide. Major Torri Tellis of CMPD stated that the victim sustained what investigators described as “trauma,” though officials have not yet released specific details regarding the nature or cause of death. The identity of the victim has been withheld pending formal notification of next of kin.

Investigators remained on scene for several hours following the discovery, processing evidence and conducting interviews with individuals who may have had information relevant to the case.
